JUI-F’s ‘Azadi March’ caravan to move towards Rawalpindi from Lahore today

Lahore (Staff Report): The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Azadi March caravan will leave from Lahore to Rawalpindi on Wednesday (today).

A large crowd of supporters of the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have gathered at the Minar-e-Pakistan.

Speaking to the media before leaving for Minar-e-Pakistan, Fazl said this is a movement, not a dharna. It’s not like this will stop if we don’t get the results we want in Islamabad, he said. We never even used the word dharna, he said.

“This government does not have any mandate,” he added. “The mandate can be seen in this march,” the JUI-F chief maintained.

On Sunday, the PTI-led government and Rahbar Committee reached an agreement according to which participants of the march will not enter D-Chowk.

Addressing a press conference along with members of the committee and the government delegation by his side, Khattak said that both sides had reached an understanding.

"Akram Durrani has assured me that participants of the march will not enter the Red Zone," he said. "Whether it be a dharna or a jalsa, it should be peaceful."

Khattak said that the Rahbar Committee had not asked for the prime minister's resignation neither had it put forth the demand for elections.
